Candidate’s Guide to Nomination and General Election for 2026

The Texas Election Code designates the Secretary of State as the chief election officer of the State of Texas. In order to provide information on the electoral process to all Texans, the Office of the Secretary of State has prepared this guide in the expectation that increased information will result in increased participation.

References are made to the appropriate sections in the Texas Election Code, unless otherwise indicated.
