HOUSTON, TX – On Monday evening, Texas Secretary of State Rolando Pablos joined the Consulate General of Israel to the Southwest United States to celebrate and deliver the keynote address on the occasion of Israel's 69th Independence Day. Secretary Pablos affirmed Texas' strong economic, academic, cultural, and diplomatic relationship with Israel and discussed his hopes for further strengthening the Texas-Israeli relationship. Before his appointment as Texas Secretary of State, Secretary Pablos successfully negotiated a sister-city agreement between El Paso, Texas and Hadera, Israel in order to facilitate economic, academic and cultural exchange.
"Texas and Israel share a distinct spirit of innovation which has helped us form the bonds we need to build a successful relationship," Secretary Pablos said. "I envision an even closer partnership between Texas and Israel - one based on our mutual desire to continue leading the globe in producing innovative solutions to our century's most complex challenges. I hope we can continue to build bridges and exchange ideas that not only strengthen our relationship, but also strengthen our companies, our families, and our people."
"Each year the Consulate hosts a special event to commemorate the Independence of the State of Israel and celebrate our excellent relations with the great state of Texas," Consul General of Israel to the Southwest, Ambassador Eitan Levon said. "We are delighted to have Secretary Pablos join us on this occasion as a friend of Israel and a representative of our Texas-Israel partnership."
