Secretary Pablos Participates In TxDOT’s 12th Annual Texas Transportation Forum
AUSTIN, TX – Texas Secretary of State Rolando Pablos today participated in a break out session for the Texas Department of Transportation’s (TxDOT) 12th Annual Texas Transportation Forum. During the session, entitled “International Trade: Steering Texas Towards Prosperity,” Secretary Pablos joined Texas Comptroller Glenn Hegar and IBC Bank Executive Vice President Gerry Schwebel in a panel discussion moderated by TxDOT Commissioner Jeff Austin, III to address the role of Texas’ transportation system in international trade. The panelists engaged in dialogue on a variety of topics and shared their expertise on both the benefits and challenges of Texas’ cross-border trade relationship with Mexico.
“When it comes to attracting investment in Texas, infrastructure plays a critical role – all the way from air service, to rail, to our ports,” Secretary Pablos said. “Being able to manage relationships between governments, as well as the private sector, is very important as we continue to educate and communicate the needs of stakeholders on both sides of the border. In strengthening those relationships, we are better positioned to examine the best practices that will yield even greater economic prosperity for the Lone Star State.”
