AUSTIN — Today, Governor-elect Greg Abbott announced he will appoint Cameron County Judge Carlos Cascos to serve as Texas Secretary of State. Below is a statement from current Texas Secretary of State Nandita Berry:

Congratulations to Judge Carlos Cascos. I wish him well, and I will work to make sure the transition to his leadership is smooth. It has been my honor to serve Texas as the 109th Secretary of State, overseeing a secure and successful election and to be part of the Texas economic miracle. I look forward to serving out the remainder of my term under Gov. Rick Perry and then returning to the private sector of this great state.
