José A. "Joe" Esparza fue juramentado como Secretario Adjunto del Estado de Texas el 14 de diciembre de 2018. Anteriormente, Esparza se desempeñó como Gerente Principal de Nombramientos en la oficina del Gobernador, supervisando numerosos nombramientos gubernamentales durante el primer mandato del Gobernador Abbott.

Un graduado de la Universidad de Texas Tech, Esparza obtuvo una licenciatura en Comunicaciones Agrícolas. Esparza dejó del Cuerpo de Marina de los Estados Unidos honorablemente y es un veterano de la Guerra Global contra el Terrorismo, después de haber servido en Irak.
