Secretary Nelson Takes Voter Education Tour to Laredo

Laredo, TX – Texas Secretary of State Jane Nelson took her voter education tour to Laredo, speaking at the Webb County Elections Office. The tour is designed to ensure Texans know the changes to voting requirements ahead of the March 5 Primary Election.

“We are in the middle of early voting, and eligible Texans who plan to vote in the primary elections but have not yet should make a plan for when and where they will vote,” Secretary Jane Nelson said. “Early voting ends Friday March 1, and Election Day is March 5.”

Secretary Nelson works alongside election officials across Texas to make sure qualified Texans have the information needed to cast a ballot.

The Secretary highlighted key information detailed at VoteTexas.gov, including the seven approved forms of photo ID Texans can use to vote in person:

• Texas Driver License
• Texas Personal Identification Card
• Passport
• Texas Handgun License
• MIlitary Identification Card
• Citizenship Certificate
• Texas Election Identification Certificate

Voters who do not have and cannot reasonably obtain one of the seven approved forms of photo ID can fill out a Reasonable Impediment Declaration at the polls and present an alternative form of identification, such as a utility bill, bank statement, government check, or a voter registration certificate.

Early voting run through Mach 1. Election day is March 5.
