The Notary Public Unit processes notary public applications. Upon qualification, a notary public is mailed a four-year commission. This unit is also responsible for processing the notary public complaints received and distributing an educational notary public video. The Registrations Unit registers or maintains information on athlete agents, automobile clubs, business opportunities, credit services organizations, third-party debt collectors bonds, commercial use of the State Seal of Texas, health spas, membership camping resorts, municipal boundary changes, property rights, public safety organizations and their solicitors, telephone solicitors, and veterans organizations and their solicitors. For inquiries related to the formation of profit or non-profit entities or subsequent filings related to these entities, or the registration of Out-of-State corporations, limited liability companies, and limited partnerships, please refer to the Business Filings information on this website or call (512) 463-5555. The commissioning of governor appointees and statewide elected officers occurs within this unit. During each legislative session all passed original bills and resolutions are filed.
