Volunteer Deputy Registrar Injunction Stayed by Appellate Court

To: Voter Registrars/Elections Administrators
From: Keith Ingram, Director of Elections

RE: Volunteer Deputy Registrar Injunction Stayed by Appellate Court

The United States 5th Circuit Court of Appeals in New Orleans heard oral arguments today on Texas’ Motion to Stay the Preliminary Injunction issued by the federal district court in Galveston on August 2. A short while ago, that Motion was granted. The relevant language from the Court’s docket entry listing this ruling is pasted below my signature.

This means that our Volunteer Deputy Registrar program and training materials as they existed since they were pre-cleared by the Department of Justice are back in place. We will be putting the original training materials back on our website shortly.

We will also be available to answer any questions you have regarding this ruling. Of course we will keep you updated as we receive any new information on this matter. Thank you so very much for your continued patience and flexibility as we navigate this election year.
