Pursuant to the Appropriations Act, Article IX, Section 167, the Office of the Secretary of State will be undertaking a comprehensive review of its rules that were in effect in August 1997. Chapter-by-chapter notices of proposed intention to review will be published in the Rules Review section of the Texas Register, and may include references to chapters which have been amended, added, or repealed since September 1, 1998.

Review of the chapters listed in this plan will determine whether the reasons for adoption continue to exist. We anticipate the repeal of rules under Chapter 99, and the repeal or substantive revision to rules under Chapter 101. We anticipate minor changes to other chapters which have not undergone recent revision. These and any other revisions that result from this rules review will be published in the Texas Register in accordance with the Administrative Procedure Act. Readopted rules will be noted in the Texas Register's Rules Review section without publication of the text.
