RE: Acceptable Forms of Photo Identification

As you know we have been engaged in a process this summer to flesh out the list of acceptable forms of Identification (“ID”) PPS | (PDF) for voting contained in Election Code 63.0101. That list is as follows:

At the annual County Election Officials seminar in July, our office presented and distributed a power point presentation containing photographs of each of these ID cards. Thereafter, an updated version of the power point presentation was issued which included retiree military cards and Veterans Affairs cards.

Attached to this advisory is the final version of the power point presentation of acceptable forms of ID for voting. This advisory contains all of the forms of ID in the previous presentation as well as a photograph of a temporary receipt from the Texas Department of Public Safety. Receipts such as this are issued by DPS for driver license, Texas ID card and election identification certificates. A receipt issued by the DPS for one of these three forms of identification which contains a photograph is an acceptable form of identification for voting as it is a temporary form of a permanent ID.

Please disregard and discard previous versions of this presentation and use this one.

If you have any questions, please let us know.
