RE: 2014 Annual Voting Systems Filing Report

Pursuant to Section 123.061 of the Texas Election Code (the “Code”), each authority adopting a voting system for use in its election is required to file an annual report with our office concerning the type of voting system used. This form must be filed with our office regardless of whether you held an election.

Pursuant to Section 31.008(a) of the Code, the Secretary of State shall collect and maintain information on the number of elections held in this state and the administrative costs associated with the elections.  Note: Report only the number of elections and election costs for your entity’s elections.

Your entity’s report must be completed online and returned to the Secretary of State no later than Tuesday, July 15, 2014.  The election official logging on and entering the voting systems data is responsible for the data submitted and therefore certifies that the information is true and correct.

The Attorney General may seek a writ of mandamus to compel the filing of the report by entities that fail to comply. Entities that fail to submit the report to our office within the prescribed filing period will receive a written delinquency notice from our office.  If we do not receive your report within 15 days after the delinquency notice has been mailed to you, your entity’s name will appear on our list to the Attorney General

After you complete the questions required for the Annual Voting Systems Report, you will find a link to an optional survey on Early Voting Ballot Board practices and procedures.   While this survey is optional, we would strongly encourage you to take a few minutes to complete it so that our office can utilize your responses and feedback in the development of Early Voting Ballot Board training and resources material.
