| RE: | 2010 Annual Voting Systems Filing Report |
Pursuant to Section 123.061 of the Texas Election Code (the “Code”), each county in this state is required to file an annual report with our office concerning the type of voting system used. The online 2010 Annual Voting Systems Filing Report must be completed and submitted to the Secretary of State no later than July 16, 2010.
NOTE: The county official logging on and entering the county’s voting systems data is responsible and therefore certifies that the information submitted is true and correct. Your county-assigned user ID and password remains the same as the user ID and password used for past Annual Voting System Reports and Partial Manual Counts.
Section 31.008(a) of the Code states: The Secretary of State shall collect and maintain information on the number of elections held in this state and the administrative costs associated with the elections. Note: Report only the number of elections and election costs for your county elections. Do not include the primary election or elections in which you contracted with city, school or other political subdivisions.
All reports will be reviewed within 30 days after the filing deadline. Counties that fail to submit the report to our office within the filing period will receive a written delinquency notice from our office. If we do not receive your report within 15 days after the delinquency notice has been mailed to you, your county will appear on our list to the Attorney General. The Attorney General may seek a writ of mandamus to compel the filing of the report by counties that failed to comply.
If you have challenges logging on or questions regarding your user ID or password, please contact Irene Diaz or Juanita Woods toll-free at 1-800-252-2216.
Annual Voting System Filing Reports questions pertaining to cities, schools and other political subdivision should be directed to Kim Thole or Ernest Fuentes at 1-800-252-8683.
