Important Election Dates

  • Last day to register to vote: October 4
  • Early Voting in person: October 18-29
  • Deadline for an application for a ballot by mail to be received by Early Voting Clerk: October 26
  • Election Day: November 2

Voter Registration

Texas has 13 million registered voters.

To register to vote in Texas, you must:

  1. Be a U.S. citizen;
  2. Be a resident of the county;
  3. Be at least 17 years and 10 months old (You must be 18 years old by Election Day.)
  4. Not be a convicted felon (unless your sentence is completed, including any probation and parole); and
  5. Not be declared mentally incapacitated by a court of law.

Voter Registration Applications are available online at VOTEXAS.org or at many county elections offices, post offices and libraries.

Early Voting

Voters may vote early in person at any early voting location within their county.

A voter is eligible to vote early by mail if they are:

  1. 65 years old or older on Election Day;
  2. Going to be away from their county on Election Day and during early voting;
  3. Sick or disabled; or
  4. Confined in jail, but eligible to vote.
